During holidays in Venice, an 81-year old American woman suffered multiple bone fractures after a serious accident, necessitating admission to a trauma department at a local hospital. Her husband contacted the repatriation service of the Medical Air Service to let us organise urgent repatriation to Austin, Texas (US) for his wife.
As communication with the local medical staff was only possible in Italian, we provided the husband with an Italian account manager at his disposal around the clock, to answer all questions and request all necessary documentation.
We managed to already next day provide an ambulance aircraft type Gulfstream G100 at the airport Venedig-Tessera (Italy). Beforehand, the patient and her husband were picked up by us by ambulance boat, the Venice equivalent of an ambulance, and subsequently transported to the airport the fastest way possible. From there on, the patient was safely and securely flown to Austin Bergstrom Airport (Texas, US) under constant supervision of highly qualified medical personnel. There, a further medical team picked her up – this time with the usual ambulance – and brought her to the hospital of her choice, where treatment was continued.
Regardless of the country from which we should repatriate a patient, the repatriation service of the Medical Air Service is at your service 24 hours a day to receive and professionally process your request. Our very experienced team speaks, aside from English, French, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Polish, and Russian – this allows us to securely and quickly help you all over the world. Simply contact us: per telephone, email, or using the contact form.
