Last week, the Medical Air Service organised a medevac flight to York (UK) for a British man who suffered a cardiac arrest during his Ibiza holiday. Our English and Spanish-language repatriation service immediately contacted the doctors at the Can Misses Hospital on Ibiza after receiving the call, in order to handle the medical clarification and assess the transport condition of the patient. The doctors were naturally included in the decision making process concerning the date of repatriation to Great Britain. This ensured that our flight planning and all necessary landing permits moved forward quickly.
We provided an ambulance jet type Gulfstream G100 at Ibiza airport on the planned date, which brought the patient and the accompanying person back to London Luton under constant medical care. By the way: We consider, aside from the condition of the patient, other important factors when selecting an aircraft such as economic efficiency, flight trajectory, luggage room, etc. Relatives or patients can also choose their preferred ambulance airplane model themselves. We handed over patient care to the ground ambulance team punctually; they drove the patient to the treating clinic York Hospital.
