Medevac flight from Ibiza, Spain

Last week, Medical Air Service organised a medevac flight to York, the UK, for a British man who suffered a cardiac arrest while on holiday in Ibiza. Our English and Spanish repatriation service immediately contacted doctors at the Can Misses Hospital in Ibiza after receiving a call from his family, to clarify the patient’s medical condition and assess whether he was fit to fly. Naturally, his doctors were included in the decision-making process. This ensured that our flight planning proceeded quickly and smoothly.

We provided a Gulfstream G100 air ambulance, which landed at Ibiza Airport on the planned date, and took the patient and a family member back to London Luton Airport under constant medical care. Apart from the condition of the patient, we also consider other important factors when selecting an aircraft: economy, efficiency, length of flight, luggage room, etc. Patients or their relatives can also choose the type of air ambulance they would prefer. We handed over the patient to the waiting ground ambulance team on time, and they drove the patient to York Hospital.
