From Cairo to Atlanta – with pneumonia

Pneumonia can, in some cases, be life-threatening. Therefore, a businessman who was resident both in Egypt and the United States wanted to book an ambulance flight when he fell ill with pneumonia in Cairo. In Atlanta, his second home, he hoped for significantly better treatment outcomes. Two things were particularly important to him for his ambulance flight: he wanted to return to Atlanta as quickly as possible and wished to be accompanied by a total of four people.

Cessna Citation 680 Sovereign

Flight to the USA as fast as possible

Acute pneumonia needs optimal treatment as quickly as possible. Therefore, we immediately started organising the flight. Although international travel to the USA is currently subject to many restrictions, our experience and our patient’s excellent contacts enabled us to obtain all the necessary permits in a timely manner. To meet the patient's request for four flight companions, we used a Cessna Citation 680 Sovereign aircraft. The combination of its passenger capacity and range made the Sovereign ideal for the planned long-haul flight.

A safe and comfortable flight to the patient’s destination

Our VIP patient and his companions were picked up by a ground ambulance at the hospital in Cairo and taken to Cairo International Airport. There, the ambulance aircraft was already waiting and flew the patient (with stopovers in Germany and Canada) to DeKalb-Peachtree Airport north-east of Atlanta. We chose this small airport because the route to the destination hospital in Atlanta was significantly shorter than from the much larger Atlanta International Airport.

Naturally, at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport, another of our ambulance vehicles was ready and waiting to take the patient safely to the destination hospital. Upon arrival, we handed him over to the care of the doctors responsible for his treatment so that he can now overcome his pneumonia under the best medical care. We wish him and his family all the best!
